‘Requires no skill’ – Paige Spiranac calls for golfers to be banned with sights set on PGA Tour role

Paige Spiranac wants golf to take out the trash.

The popular influencer has over 11 million followers across her social media platforms, making her opinions worth listening to.

Her latest take is that golfers who fail to repair their pitch marks on the green should be booted from the sport entirely — stirring up plenty of debate.

“Hot take. If you can’t fix your ball mark on the green you shouldn’t be allowed to play. It takes two seconds to do and requires no skill,” Spirinac posted on X.

“Agreed. But it does require some skill. The vast majority of people who bother to fix their marks do so improperly and damage the turf roots. Just sayin,” replied one fan.

“You should just do what I do – never hit a green. Then you never leave ball marks. Putting from 8 yards off the green because you are chrome call short is the way to do it. Makes your divot tool last longer too,” joked another.

A third added: “The reason there are so many un-fixed divots on greens is because most courses are funded by players who don’t hit the green on a regular basis. When they do hit it, they are so excited, the last thing on their mind is the damage the best shot they’ve hit in 3 months caused.

“As an ex greenkeeper , 99% of golfers wouldn’t have a clue how to repair a pitch mark properly . Takes longer than 2 seconds,” wrote a fourth.

Pitch marks are something of a Pet Peeve for Spiranac, who went into a rant about them in January and has also branded Chris Pratt the ‘slowest golfer ever.’

“Nothing grinds my gears more when someone doesn’t put their shopping cart away at the grocery store, when someone doesn’t stack their bin at airport security, when someone doesn’t fill their divot or fix their ball mark at a golf course,” said the former San Diego State golfer.

“The grounds crew wakes up at the butt crack of dawn to make sure this golf course is in pristine condition for you to just duff it around. The least you can do is fill your divot and fix your ball mark. And with pace of play we know you got time to not only fix one, but 10 more.

“The golf gods are looking down at you going, ‘Wow, I’ll remember that.’ The next time your drive is flying out of bounds, it’s going to stop right in front of it because you have good golf karma now.

She played on developmental tours before becoming an influencer

“So remember that and don’t be an a******. Caring for the golf course is not only good for you, it’s good for everyone on the golf course and the grounds crew.”

Spiranac, who earned All-Conference honors twice and left San Diego State to a Mountain West title, is also making a play to land a role with the PGA Tour.

“If the new PGA CEO doesn’t immediately hire @PaigeSpiranac as an on-course reporter, then all is lost,” a fan wrote with a picture of Spirinac holding a mic after Brian Rolapp landed the top job.

“I mean the people have spoken,” Spiranac replied.

Current on-course commentator Colt Knost later jokingly begged the influencer not to take his job.

“No one could ever replace you,” she replied with a red love heart emoji.

As well as producing her own content, Spiranac is currently working with the Grass League — a Par 3 tournament that is in its second season.

“I am joining the front office at Grass League, yay!” she revealed on YouTube.

“I will be joining the front office which means that I will be focusing on brand development, fan engagement, marketing, content strategy, seeking out new talent, team owners, and acquiring sponsorships.”

Hopefully the competitors have been brushing up on their green etiquette, or they make be looking for a new job.
