England middle-order batter Harry Brook suffered an injury on Day 2 of the opening Test of the five-match series against India at Headingley in Leeds on Saturday, June 21. Ben Duckett accidentally hit Brook on the back with a throw, forcing him to walk off the field during India’s first innings.
England skipper Ben Stokes opted to bowl first on Day 1, but the move backfired. Openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul laid a solid foundation. Jaiswal and captain Shubman Gill smashed centuries, while Rishabh Pant added a half-century. India scored more than 350 runs for the loss of just 3 wickets.

The incident took place on the final ball of the 98th over in India's first innings. Rishabh Pant played a soft defensive shot off Shoaib Bashir and ran a quick single. Ben Duckett, who was fielding at backward point, aimed a throw at the stumps.
Harry Brook, stationed at the slip, had ducked in anticipation to avoid any contact. However, the ball struck him on the back. Notably, Brook avoided serious injury but left the field for treatment. The players took a drinks break immediately after.
