ROCHESTER, N.Y. – A 68-year-old woman from Rochester is accused of stealing nearly $13,000 in pension payments meant for her dead mother.
According to the State Comptroller’s Office, Karen Walsh’s mother got a monthly payment as the beneficiary of her deceased husband’s state pension.
Walsh’s mother died in 2020, and her pension payments should have stopped, but Walsh kept collecting them until 2022.
The comptroller’s office says Walsh spent money on personal credit card payments, home improvements and groceries.
Walsh is due back in court on July 1.
