Notre Dame is in the mix to produce the top recruiting class in the country for the class of 2026. On Friday, the Fighting Irish landed a prominent piece to the puzzle for head coach Marcus Freeman and his staff.
That player is Khary Adams, a 4-star defensive back from Loyola Blakefield High School in Towson, Maryland. A multi-sport athlete who plays both sides of the ball in high school, Adams eventually committed to Notre Dame over a final group that also included Oregon, Penn State and Michigan.
Here’s how Adams announced his decision on social media.:
First ,I want to thank God for blessing me with talent. I would also like to thank all the coaches who took a chance on me and recruited me. Thank you to every coach who has coached me and prepared me for this moment. GO IRISH☘️ t.co/bwwKJnLMzS

Listed at 6-foot-2 and 175 pounds, Adams is rated as the 9th overall cornerback in the 2026 cycle, according to the 247 Sports Composite. He’s also the No. 4 player from Maryland and a top-100 prospect at 75th overall nationally, regardless of position.
The addition of Adams brings the Fighting Irish up to 18 hard commitments for the cycle, a group that currently ranks 3rd in the country in terms of the team composite rankings. Only USC and Texas A&M are ahead of Notre Dame in those rankings, though the average point total of Notre Dame’s commitments has a slight edge over those 2.
A total of 17 players committed to the Irish have a 4-star composite rating, and Adams is the 3rd player in the top 100 players nationally to commit.
