Mountain Dew Fans Super Bummed About Reportedly Discontinued Flavors

Mountain Dew fans are not holding back their feeling and fully leaning into their aggression, declaring this latest flavor update the "biggest L" the company has taken, should it ever be confirmed.

A few months back, fans were chatting about "stocking up" on the latest Mountain Dew flavor because they loved it so much. Now, the discussion has taken a bit of a bittersweet turn, as rumor has it that the beloved spinoff won't be coming back for the fall.

Rotating out flavors–no matter how popular–isn't a new concept for the PepsiCo brand of soft drinks, but it still hurts fans every time it happens and this time around they're feeling "super bummed" about it.

Trusted food bloggers SnachWithZach and TeamSupernovaFB report that Mountain Dew's Game Fuel Blackberry Citrus and Citrus Cherry sodas won't return this fall. The duo was initially told that the highly-rated Citrus Cherry would be coming back with a new sugar-free alternative, but the plan was apparently "scrapped," according to the source.

"Canceling Citrus Cherry was such a major L move," one fan wrote in response to the update.

"How many times will they take away Cherry citrus game fuel," another asked, revealing they were glad to "still have 2 cases."

"Gamefuel not returning is the biggest L I think MTN dew has ever taken," a third declared.

"Super bummed about Game Fuel Citrus Cherry not coming back. ?," one more lamented.

But as they say, out with the old and in with the new! The brand is expected to release a collaboration with Trolli (yes, the sour candy) this fall that could offer a somewhat similar, but presumably more tart, spin on at least one of the Game Fuel flavors said to disappear.

The brand is also allegedly due to release two new Baja Blast variations next year: Mountain Dew Baja Blue Surge, described as an açaí-lychee-blueberry flavor, and one that's rumored to be Strawberry Mango or Strawberry Guava.

While a spokesperson declined to comment on any of these rumors, the company did only confirm the highly anticipated arrival of its Dragon Fruit flavor and the return of its fan-favorite Summer Freeze, both out now, so fans have more than enough to sip on while they wait for the official news to release.
