A Ghost Whisperer fan-favorite is debuting a creepy new true crime series called A Killer Among Friends.
Jennifer Love Hewitt, who won a Saturn Award for her portrayal of Melinda Gordon on the long-running CBS supernatural drama Ghost Whisperer, is launching a spooky new true crime drama on Investigation Discovery.
A Killer Among Friends is a six-part series that will "explore a group of interconnected individuals who are collectively haunted by a murder of one of their own, serving as the catalyst to unravel secrets, suspicions, and betrayals between friends. Amidst the hunt for a killer, no one is entirely certain who they can trust… or if another member of their friend group might be next," according to the press release.
Hewitt is an executive producer and also the narrator for the true crime series, which premieres July 14. Watch the trailer below.
“Identifying new pockets of storytelling in an innovative format has always been a passion of mine as an executive producer,” said the 9-1-1 star in a statement. “A Killer Among Friends offers a unique opportunity for me to draw from my own work as an actress, as we blend together a kaleidoscope of perspectives to tell each of these tragedies that deeply impact group dynamics and shatter beliefs.”

The press release continues, "From college friend groups, close-knit classmates or high school theater troupes, A Killer Among Friends will spotlight shocking cases of betrayal, jealousy, and violence. As each individual recounts their perspective on the crime or the victim, revelations will bubble to the surface about what really went wrong, as secrets they may have held for years or memories they may have suppressed resurface. A Killer Among Friends will showcase that each case may not be as simple as it seems – and ultimately reveal who may feel more complicit than they originally claimed."
The premiere episode, "Killer on Campus," will delve into the slaying of University of Kentucky football player Trent DiGiuro while he was celebrating his 21st birthday. Additional episodes include the murder of the star of a community theater production of Fiddler on the Roof; the disappearance of teen Elyse Pahler; the death of Michele Carson while on a girls' trip to Las Vegas; the slaying of UCLA student Ron Baker; and the disappearance of middle schooler Maryann Measles.
New episodes will air on Mondays beginning on July 14 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on ID, with the episodes available to stream the next day on HBO Max.
