Arie Luyendyk Jr. and wife Lauren Luyendyk (née Burnham) have embraced being public figures after falling in love on The Bachelor — but they have mixed feelings about showing their kids on social media.
“We wrestle with it, honestly, because we are a public family,” Arie, 43, told E! News on Thursday, June 19. “We have our kids online and that’s something that we do struggle with — the choice between not showing your kids and showing your kids to the world.”
The former Bachelor revealed, “I think there will be a point in time when the kids get a little bit older that we’ll probably not have them online, but for now, we’re comfortable with it.”
Arie and Lauren, 33, met on season 22 of The Bachelor, which aired in 2018. While Arie initially proposed to Becca Kurfin, he later called off their engagement after revealing he still had feelings for Lauren.

Lauren and Arie then got back together, and he proposed during the After the Final Rose special. The pair got married in January 2019 and have since welcomed three children: daughter Alessi, 6, and twins Lux and Senna, 4.
While Arie got a vasectomy in 2022, vowing he was “done” having kids, he later had the surgery reversed. Lauren announced in March that she is pregnant with the couple’s fourth baby, a girl.

Although not all celebrities like to have their kids in the spotlight, Lauren and Arie think their decision to feature Alessi, Lux and Senna on social media is a positive — at least for now.

The couple’s approach to social media isn’t their only out-of-the-box parenting decision. Lauren and Arie exclusively told Us Weekly in August 2023 that they struggled with the idea of Alessi starting prekindergarten, so Lauren decided to pull her “out of school early every day.”

Arie explained, “She’s probably having fun. [Lauren’s] like, ‘No, she’d have more fun over here,’” which Lauren later admitted might not have been the case.
“She’s like, ‘I just got in the pool, Mom — did you have to pick me up now?’ But I don’t know, it’s hard!” Lauren told Us. “Like, maybe, he’s right. I did go in [to] the principal’s office and started crying yesterday. … I don’t think I’m ready yet for her to go to school.”

As their kids have grown, Lauren and Arie have kept them as close as possible, traveling together, having impromptu beach days and coordinating Halloween costumes. Their little ones were even on hand when they renewed their vows in 2023.
“I loved that our kids were there too. They had the best time. There were dancers from the island there and they had these crazy costumes and Lux was just, like, enamored with these dancers,” Lauren exclusively told Us in August 2023 of the Aruba ceremony. “[Lux] just, like, could not get over it. It was so fun.”
