Clemson has dismissed true freshman running back Marquise Henderson.
The program released an official statement on the matter on Thursday morning, but did not go into detail as to why Henderson is no longer with the program. Here’s the full statement from Clemson:
Clemson has made the decision to dismiss Marquise Henderson from its program. We wish him the best as he moves forward.
No other details regarding the reason for his dismissal are publicly known at this time.
Henderson was a big-time recruit for Clemson when he signed in the class of 2025. He was the No. 183 overall player and the No. 14 running back in the country for this cycle, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He enrolled back in January, so he’s been with the program for most of the offseason.
Henderson is from Honea Path, South Carolina. He was one of just 3 in-state recruits for the Tigers in the 2025 recruiting cycle. He was also one of the Clemson’s top-ranked high school signees in this class.
If there’s any silver lining for Clemson, it’s that fellow freshman running back Gideon Davidson is expected to push for the starting job during fall camp.
Clemson will host LSU to open the 2025 season on Aug. 30.
