5 Most Anticipated Netflix Movies of Summer 2025, Ranked

Netflix is the only streamer that can reliably drop a new movie almost every week of the year. And Netflix still draws top talent to its films as well.

This summer, Netflix is once again flexing its cinematic muscles with a lineup of original movies that are box-office worthy. But they’re skipping theaters entirely.

To help you make your summer viewing plans, the Watch With Us team has put together our list of the five most anticipated Netflix movies of summer 2025.

Our picks include a romantic dramedy, a very adult animated movie, an action flick, and two comedies. And these are only five of the movies coming to Netflix this summer. If you can’t find something you want to see here, Netflix will always have more options for you.

    5. ‘My Oxford Year’

Corey Mylchreest and Sofia Carson in My Oxford Year Netflix

My Oxford Year is a romantic comedy/drama based on the novel by Julia Whelan. Sofia Carson stars as Anna De La Vega, an American student who has come to Oxford to live out her dream and study at the prestigious university. And it isn’t long before Anna starts to fall for a local man named Jamie Davenport (Corey Mylchreest).

Anna has a bright future in politics once she returns to America. But when Jamie faces a personal tragedy, Anna has to decide whether her own ambitions are more important than the desire of her heart.

My Oxford Year will stream on Netflix on August 1.

    4. ‘Fixed’

The dogs of Fixed Sony Pictures Animation

Fixed is a throwback both in terms of style and content. This is the first traditionally animated feature from Sony Animation and also the studio’s first adult animated movie. If you’ve seen Strays, you should get the flavor of this picture. This story is about Bull (Adam DeVine), a dog who realizes that his owner intends to have him neutered in the morning.

Before that can happen, Bull sneaks out of the house for one last good time with his friends, Rocco (Idris Elba), Honey (Kathryn Hahn), Fetch (Fred Armisen) and Lucky (Bobby Moynihan). No matter what happens with his friends, Bull still has to face the unkindest cut if he goes home again.

Fixed will stream on Netflix on August 13.

    3. ‘The Old Guard 2’

The Old Guard 2 spent nearly three years on the shelf for reasons that aren’t readily apparent. What we do know is that this sequel features action icons Charlize Theron and Uma Thurman going up against each other. Theron is reprising her role as Andromache of Scythia, a woman who was once immortal. Now, she’s simply Andy, and she doesn’t know how to adjust to her newfound mortality.

The rest of Andy’s team still retains their immortality, but they’ve also attracted the attention of Discord (Thurman), the first immortal. She’s disgusted by the way Andy’s team fights for mortals, and she’s going to put a stop to it. Discord knows almost all of their secrets and how to hurt them. What she may not know is that Andy’s status as a mortal may give her the key to beating Discord.

The Old Guard 2 will stream on Netflix on July 2.

    1. ‘Happy Gilmore 2’

Nearly 30 years after the first Happy Gilmore movie, Adam Sandler reprises his role as the title character in Happy Gilmore 2.
