Chapel Hill’s Weavers Grove Welcomes First Residents, Offering a Vision of Inclusive Homeownership

Weavers Grove, the long-anticipated mixed-income community spearheaded by Habitat for Humanity of Orange County, is officially coming to life in Chapel Hill.

Located off Sunrise Road, the neighborhood has been adding homeowners to the community over the past year marking a major milestone in an effort that’s garnered attention across the region. Once complete, Weavers Grove will feature 225 homes, with 102 of them constructed by Habitat to be purchased by those who live or work in Orange County. The remaining market-rate homes are being built by two Triangle-based homebuilders: White Oak Properties and Garman Homes.

“This community represents years of planning and partnerships aimed at creating something different in Chapel Hill,” said Jennifer Player, president and CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Orange County. “Weavers Grove is designed to bring people together, across incomes, backgrounds, and experiences.”

The development stands out not just for its mission, but for its execution. Home designs reflect a modern, neighbor-friendly layout, with a mix of townhomes, condominiums, and single-family houses. With walkable trails and amenities including a Community Center, dog park, community garden, playground, basketball court, and pickleball court, residents enjoy a true neighborhood feel.

Market-rate homes are already available through both White Oak Properties and Garman Homes, offering buyers an opportunity to join a neighborhood built on inclusivity and smart design. Both builders are contributing a range of thoughtfully crafted homes, designed to appeal to buyers looking for quality, convenience, and a connection to community values.

Demand has been strong, with early buyers and Habitat homeowners now settling in. The once-quiet site is quickly turning into a vibrant neighborhood filled with laughter, front-porch conversations, and a shared sense of purpose.
