A MONSTER all-terrain RV is perfect for those looking for extended off-grid living.
The wildly impressive Hunter RMV Isuzu Predator XLE 4×4 takes van-lifing to the extreme with a high-end, custom-built overlanding vehicle.
Ideal for individuals who want to go off-grid for extended periods, live on the road, or simply enjoy the rugged aesthetic of overlanding rigs, the Predator XLE 4×4 is the ultimate home on wheels – but all for a pretty hefty price.
It is designed solely for wilderness exploration or as a permanent living solution to escape suburban life.
Built on an Isuzu FTR MT3 medium-duty truck, it has been converted to 4×4 by Tulsa Truck Works in Oklahoma.
It features a 6.7-liter Cummins straight-six turbodiesel engine, with 260 hp and 660 lb-ft of torque – which is more than enough oomph for even the trickiest of terrains.
But while it boasts the power of a military vehicle, inside you can live in relative comfort.
That’s thanks to a queen-size bed, full kitchen and dining area – with dual induction cooktop, microwave, fridge, and freezer – and a roomy bathroom that comes with a shower, composting toilet, and sink.
It’s all powered by an 800-ah battery pack with a 1,000-watt solar panel array – perfect for living off grid.
It also doesn’t matter what extreme environments you take it to, as it boasts both Truma diesel heating and hot water system, as well as a Dometic air-conditioning and roof-mounted fans.
Extras include a built-in grill, a smart TV that sits perfectly in your living area, which also includes ambient lighting, and a security feed display.
But while owning the Predator XLE 4×4 might seem like a bright idea for adventurers, driving the beast will be a challenge for many.
Due to its massive size and weight – which comes in at around 19,850 pounds – it requires careful maneuvering, particularly on rough terrain or tight trails, and professional training will be necessary.
While you don’t have to have a commercial driver’s license, it’s a commercial truck at its core.
According to Motortrend, spotters are advised for navigating obstacles and tight spaces.
Extra caution will also be needed when cornering.
Furthermore, the vehicle’s starting price of $500,000 makes it inaccessible for most – and that’s not counting a fully equipped version, which reaches the high-$600,000 range.
And while Hunter can almost guarantee a well-built and professional finished rig, creating these things is time-consuming.
At present, reservations are booked through 2026, with each build requiring 2,000 to 3,000 hours to complete.
Tips for traveling in an RV
Whether in a big or small rig, there are a few things every traveler should know before hitting the road
Having a home on wheels is a great way to save money and travel safely, but there are a few things that should be addressed before traveling long distances and parking for extended periods.
Consider the location. Different regions and climates present different challenges, like warm days but cold nights, persistent rain and humidity, or extremely dry air. Knowing what you’re driving into can help make the stay more comfortable. Factor in costs and prepare. How much are RV campsites? Average fuel costs? Are there laundromats nearby that accept credit or debit cards? Are there hardware stores close by in case something breaks? How about RV insurance? Be flexible. As always when traveling, it’s important to plan, but travelers must stay flexible when things go unexpectedly. Pack lightly. Even though an RV is a home on wheels, a small space will quickly teach travelers how to organize items by what’s necessary and what’s convenient. Consider the weather. Pack according to the weather, and take note that insulation in an RV isn’t as effective as insulation in a house. Always bring extra items to keep warm or cool.Source: Progressive Auto Insurance
