PARAMOUNT Global job cuts have hit the CBS Sports division with one analyst announcing he’s been let go.
The company is cutting 3.5 per cent of staff from a workforce of more than 18,000.
And that includes CBS Sports, it has been confirmed.
NFL Draft analyst Chris Trapasso announced he has been let go by the network.
He had been with CBS since 2017, specializing in football.
But Trapasso wrote on X, “Recently got word my job at CBS Sports is being eliminated due to budget cuts.
He added, “Can’t thank my editors and co-workers at CBS Sports enough.
“I never took for granted giving NFL analysis on such a big platform. It was an awesome job I put everything into for eight seasons.
“And incredibly grateful for all of you for following here and reading my work on the site.”
The exact scale of the CBS Sports cuts are unclear.
But they come with parent company Paramount in talks over a merger with Skydance Media.
“We are taking the hard, but necessary steps to further streamline our organization starting this week,” Paramount Co-CEOs George Cheeks, Chris McCarthy and Brian Robbins wrote in a memo which was reported on by Reuters.
CBS shares Sunday afternoon NFL games with Fox.
The network showed Super Bowl LXIII in Las Vegas, Nevada in February 2024.
They also announced changes to their program schedule for the 2025 season.
Pregame show The NFL Today has to compete with Fox, ESPN and NFL Network’s own buildup programs.
CBS confirmed that the show will be going on the road for select games.
The hour-long program originates from the network’s New York City studio.
It follows the success of their broadcast from Orchard Park, New York last year.
The NFL Today team were at the Buffalo Bills’ clash with the Kansas City Chiefs.
An announcement read, “This season, The NFL Today will hit the road on select Sundays with live, on-site shows for some of CBS Sports’ most-anticipated games of the 2025 NFL slate.
“The guys will kick things off in Week 1 from Lambeau Field as the Packers host the Lions on September 7.
“Additional games and locations for The NFL Today on the road to be announced during the season.”
