DENVER (KDVR) -- A man is in the hospital after Fort Collins Police Services say an officer shot him Sunday night when he refused to drop a knife he was holding.
This happened in the 700 block of Eastdale Drive just 10:30 p.m., police said in a press release. Officers responded to an argument at a residence when they found the man outside the home with the knife.
The officers gave commands for the man to drop the weapon, but "he refused to cooperate," according to the press release.
"Officers used less lethal tools; however, the suspect still refused to comply," police said. "An FCPS officer then fired his handgun, striking the suspect, and immediately called for medical response."
The suspect was put into custody and taken to a hospital in unknown condition, police said.
No officers or any member of the public were injured, and there is no threat to the community. The Larimer County Sheriff's Office is leading the investigation from the Critical Incident Response Team.
