STATESVILLE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Statesville police are searching for a suspect in connection to a deadly shooting Saturday afternoon.
Around 12:45 p.m., police received reports of shots fired in the area of Deaton Street and Abernathy Ball Field.
When officers arrived, they located a man in a nearby front yard with multiple gunshot wounds to the abdomen and legs. Officers rendered air before EMS transported him to Iredell Memorial Hospital, where he later died.
The victim has been identified as 33-year-old Timmy Jaurice Moores of Statesville.
During the investigation, detectives identified Austin Ty'Kim "Kimby" Morrison as the suspect believed to be involved in the shooting.
An arrest warrant for murder has been obtained for Morrison, and police are actively searching for him.
Police say that, at this time, investigators have no evidence connecting this case to the earlier homicide on East Allison Street.
