In a bold prediction, former South African speedster Dale Steyn has backed the experienced and ruthless England National Cricket Team to demolish the young India National Cricket Team led by Shubman Gill in the upcoming five-match Test series.
With the high-voltage Test series set to kick off on June 20 at Headingley, Dale Steyn turned up the serious heat by predicting that the England team would win the home series against India. Notably, the upcoming Test series between England and India will kick off the next WTC cycle, 2025-27.
Well, Shubman Gill and his team will face a stiff challenge in English conditions, and that too without their iconic trio of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravichandran Ashwin, who all retired from Test cricket. They would certainly miss the experience of the trio in England.

All eyes will now be on Shubman Gill, who takes charge as Test captain in this new era of Indian cricket, and Rishabh Pant, who was named the vice-captain. However, India’s squad features promising talents like Sai Sudharsan, Karun Nair, and Abhimanyu Easwaran, but they lack experience.
It will be 3-2 in favor of England: Dale Steyn
Meanwhile, Dale Steyn predicted a 3-2 Test series win for England against India. The Proteas legend believes that the upcoming Test series will be tightly contested, and the hosts will have an edge, thanks to their conditions and settled squad under Ben Stokes' leadership.
Dale Steyn was quoted as saying by JioHotstar, “All games will be close. But all will have a result. I think it will be 3-2 in favor of England. There will be a result in every Test match. There will be no runaway win for any team; all five games will be very close.”
Meanwhile, the Indian team is currently in action against India A in an intra-squad warm-up match at Beckenham ahead of the Test series against England. The senior team put up a strong total of 459 runs in their first innings, thanks to solid half-centuries from captain Gill and KL Rahul on Day 1.

On Day 2, it was Sarfaraz Khan who stole the spotlight. The Mumbai batter batted aggressively and smashed a quick-fire 101 off just 76 balls, hitting 15 fours and 2 sixes before retiring out. His powerful knock gave India A the upper hand against the senior team.
Jasprit Bumrah flops in intra-squad match against India A
Speaking about the bowling performance, Jasprit Bumrah went wicketless. However, Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna managed to grab two wickets each for the senior side, but the senior pacer proved to be much more expensive with the ball against India A.
India A fought back well, finishing Day 2 at 299/6. Shardul Thakur and Ishan Kishan were unbeaten at the crease at stumps. Sai Sudharsan and Abhimanyu Easwaran got decent starts, but they couldn’t convert them into big scores.
The practice game has so far offered good preparation for the team, with some players making strong early statements ahead of the big Test series.
