Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said that the current regional escalation poses serious risks and warned it could spread beyond current borders.
The Prime Minister confirmed Saturday 14/6/2025 that Egypt has activated emergency plans to prevent electricity cuts, following disruptions to gas imports.
He said that urgent meetings were held with the finance, petroleum, and electricity ministers and the central bank to monitor the situation.
Madbouly added that Egypt has secured three floating gas regasification vessels. One is being prepared in Ain Sokhna to begin operating by June 27–28. Another will follow in early July.
Together, the vessels will supply 2.25 billion cubic feet of gas daily to the national grid.
The premier noted that fuel oil reserves have been doubled compared to last year. Additional supplies are being arranged to support continued electricity production through the summer.
Madbouly called on citizens to conserve electricity to reduce pressure on the system and ensure national energy stability.
