The Florida Panthers are one win away from back-to-back Stanley Cup championships.
With a 5-2 win in Game 5 over the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday, the Panthers take the series back to Sunrise with the chance to hoist Lord Stanley’s Cup in front of their home crowd.
Brad Marchand led the way, opening the scoring in the first period and adding another marker in the third, becoming just the second player since 1968 to record multiple five-goal Stanley Cup Final series.
Sam Bennett, Sam Reinhart and Eetu Luostarinen also scored for the Panthers.
Connor McDavid scored the Oilers’ first goal to become the third-fastest player in NHL history to record 150 playoff points, achieving the feat in 95 games. Corey Perry added an empty-net goal for Edmonton.
Game 6, with the Stanley Cup in the building, takes place in Sunrise on Tuesday.
