Popular dealership abruptly closes all locations leaving customers in limbo as cars disappear from lots

A POPULAR dealership has suddenly shuttered with cars disappearing from its lots.

Customers have made complaints to the cops after being left in limbo.

Bul Auto Sales in Albany, New York, has closed along with Karma Automotive Dealership, an exotic car dealership in Jacksonville, Florida.

The dealerships have the same owner, reported Fox-affiliated Action Jax.

The websites of both lots have confirmed the shuttering, warning customers that they have “ceased operations.”

But the sudden double closures have left local media – and customers – baffled.

NBC-affiliate WNYT sent a TV crew down to Bul Auto Sales on Monday to try and solve the “mystery.”

It revealed that it had been tipped off by several callers who had spotted cops at the scene of Bul Auto. The dealership in Albany sells luxury cars.

A reporter was sent to the scene to “check things out.”

But they were none the wiser after filming a vacant lot, as there was no staff to ask about the cops’ investigation.

The station confirmed that there was “not a lot of activity in the building, and the lot itself is completely empty.”

A camera crew even filmed through the glass front doors to show the empty lot floor.

A sign on the door said the firm was closed due to staffing issues.

    MYSTERY

There was also confusion about the dealerships’ status as earlier this week it had apparently still been advertising luxury vehicles online.

However, the home pages of both Karma Automotive Dealership and Bul Auto Sales have since been updated with a brief message telling customers, “We regret to inform you we have ceased operations.”

Colonie Police confirmed on Tuesday that they are investigating complaints against Bul Auto.

The cops didn’t divulge details about the complaints.

    LAMBORGHINI

However, WNYT reported yesterday that exotic car owner Mike Abatecola alleged he had been cheated by the shuttered car company.

He had bought a Lamborghini from Bul Automotive in Colonie.

Abatecola contacted the FBI after he alleged that the owner had failed to correctly pay off the car loan.

He was allegedly $200,000 in debt after the Lambo was sold to someone else.

But after the FBI got involved, his car was returned.

    LEGAL ACTION

The broadcaster said that other customers are considering a class action lawsuit.

Deputy Police Chief Anthony Sidoti said cops are still investigating whether any crime has been committed.

The force said it would like to hear from customers who wish to lay a complaint.

The U.S. Sun has contacted the dealerships and Colonie Police for comment.

What to do if a dealership closes

If you recently bought a car or motorcycle from a dealership that suddenly closed, you may feel anxious about how that affects you.

When you finance a new car or motorcycle or need warranty repairs done at an authorized dealership, a sudden closure can make some people think they’re out of options or worry their car will be repossessed.

If you’re in a situation that sounds like that, here are a few things you can do after receiving an official notice:

Notify the bank hosting your loan of the closure to make them aware. If the financing is done through the dealership itself, it’s important to contact the dealership or your salesperson to ask how to keep up your payments. Many dealerships will send the lien (the title and registration that will only be released to the buyer after the debt is paid) to a financial institution to keep. If the dealership cannot be contacted through traditional means, most states allow drivers to apply for the title and registration through the DMV. If you leased a car from a dealership that went out of business, instructions should be sent as to which dealership to bring your vehicle to when the lease expires. If not, contact the dealership. A factory warranty through the manufacturer will be honored at any other authorized dealership. However, an extended warranty through the dealership may not be honored at other repair shops, so it’s important to seek that information from the dealership as soon as possible.
