There’s reportedly some ongoing drama between Adam Schefter and Pat McAfee at ESPN.
Schefter has been a regular on McAfee’s show since he joined ESPN, but the NFL insider hasn’t appeared on the program for several months. According to The Athletic’s Andrew Marchand, the rift between Schefter and McAfee dates back to a missed appearance on the show back in March.
Per Marchand, Schefter has been “essentially banned” by McAfee as a result of the incident. Here’s an excerpt from Marchand’s wide-ranging story on McAfee:
He has essentially banned ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter from his program since March. The usually omnipresent Schefter hasn’t been on “The Pat McAfee Show” since that month’s free agent deadline. Sources said that the main issue stemmed from one incident.
One afternoon, McAfee wanted Schefter on his program. Schefter was appearing on an ESPN2 free agency special and was unable to make it. Schefter, formerly a McAfee Show regular, has been banished ever since. (A McAfee sidekick, Ty Schmit, has remained a regular on Schefter’s podcast).
Marchand’s report notes that one of Schefter’s biggest news-breaking rivals, Ian Rapoport, has instead been a frequent guest on McAfee’s show. Rapoport was a regular contributor on McAfee’s program prior to his move to ESPN.
With the NFL season just a couple of months away, it remains to be seen McAfee and Schefter can straighten out this reported beef.
It’s possible McAfee will address this report on his show, which begins at 12 p.m. ET each week day on ESPN. McAfee is slated to begin another season with College GameDay later this fall.
