Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday flagged off the first direct flight from Bhubaneswar to Abu Dhabi.
Operated by IndiGo, the flight departed with 180 passengers and 50 tonnes of Odisha-grown mangoes.
Launched under the state’s B-MAAN (Building Management of Aviation Assets and Network) initiative, the service will operate thrice a week—on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
Calling it a proud moment, CM Majhi credited the launch to the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and highlighted the flight’s potential to boost tourism, trade, investment, and cultural exchange with West Asian nations.
On the same day, flight services between Bhubaneswar and Visakhapatnam were also resumed, further strengthening Odisha’s air connectivity.
