The Israeli army announced today, Thursday, June 12, the arrest of individuals belonging to the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in the town of Beit Jinn, southwest of the capital Damascus.
The town of Beit Jinn is administratively part of the Qatana area in the rural Damascus governorate.
The spokesperson for the Israeli army, Avichay Adraee, stated through his official account on “X” that the forces of Alexandroni (3) Brigade, under the command of the 210th Division, arrested members affiliated with the Hamas movement who were active in the Syrian town of Beit Jinn.
The military operation was based on intelligence gathered over recent weeks, and the individuals were attempting to promote various terrorist plots against Israeli citizens and the Israel Defense Forces in Syria. The detainees were transferred to Israeli territory for further investigation by Unit 504, according to Adraee.
He added that the forces found weapons (firearms, ammunition depots, and various types of ammunition) in the town, emphasizing that “the Israel Defense Forces continue their efforts to remove any threat to the citizens of the State of Israel and the residents of the Golan Heights specifically.”
The Israeli army had announced on Sunday, June 8, that it had launched an airstrike targeting Beit Jinn, southwest of Damascus.
The spokesperson for the Israeli army, Avichay Adraee, stated through his official account on “X” at that time that Israeli Air Force aircraft struck one of the elements of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in the Mazraat Beit Jinn area in southern Syria.
On June 3 of the current month, the Israeli army radio reported that two shells had been fired from the Syrian side and launched from the town of Tseel in western Daraa, landing in the occupied Golan Heights without causing injuries or material losses, according to the Israeli Haaretz newspaper. This was followed by Israeli shelling on western Daraa with several shells at intermittent intervals.
A reporter from Enab Baladi in Daraa reported at that time that the town of Tseel had been subject to Israeli shelling with four shells targeting the main road connecting it to the town of Sahm in western Daraa.

According to the Daraa reporter, the Israeli shelling did not only target the town of Tseel, as the town of Koya in western Daraa also witnessed shelling with two shells targeting agricultural lands west of the town, which also did not result in injuries or material damage.
Avichay Adraee stated that the army responded with artillery fire to the rocket launch points that had emerged from the vicinity of the village of Tseel in southern Syria.
