A plane heading to the UK has crashed near an airport in Ahmedabad, western India. According to Reuters agency, who cite police, 242 passengers were on board.
Video on social media shows black fumes billowing from the plane, which appears to have crashed in a residential area.
In a statement, Air India said: “Flight AI171, operating Ahmedabad-London Gatwick, was involved in an incident today, 12 June 2025.
“At this moment, we are ascertaining the details and will share further updates at the earliest on airindia.com and on our X handle ( x.com/airindia).”
