‘Getting zero audio’ – NBA Finals broadcast suffers embarrassing hiccup with Caitlin Clark and Reggie Miller in attendance

The NBA can’t seem to get out of its own way.

During Game 3 of the Finals between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Indiana Pacers, the broadcast on ABC/ESPN glitched and lost the picture for a full five seconds.

The broadcast went completely mute and showed nothing but a grey screen.

This is coming on the heels of the bland court in Game 1, with fans complaining that it was too ordinary and had no big-game feel to it.

Then in Game 2, the NBA and YouTube TV overcompensated by putting digital Larry O’Brien trophies on the court, that made it look even worse, and cheapened the feeling.

Now to put a bow on the first three games, you can add technical difficulties to the list of what’s gone wrong these Finals.

With the Pacers hosting their first Finals game in 25 years, and Caitlin Clark and Reggie Miller in the house, Gainbridge Fieldhouse was on fire.

The last time the Pacers hosted a Finals game was back in 2000, with Miller leading his squad up against Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant.

The people of Indianapolis have been waiting a quarter century for a moment like this.

Unfortunately for everyone not in the arena, and the millions watching at home on their couch, they had to suffer through another mediocre broadcast.

    And the fans were irate.

“I am getting zero audio,” one fan complained on X.

    “Pathetic,” another fan plainly stated.

“This ain’t gonna help the narrative,” one more chimed in.

“Anyone else noticing their TV flashing during this broadcast? Photographer strobe light is constantly going off,” NBA reporter Kevin O’Connor asked on X.

“I notice it here and there during most games but it’s happening every few seconds during Game 3.”

Adam Silver isn’t going to be happy knowing that once again the narrative is going to be negative surrounding these Finals.

The ratings between two small market teams is one thing, and mostly out of their control.
