Former India National Cricket Team opening batsman Aakash Chopra has revealed the KL Rahul factor in the shocking downfall of the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.
Aakash Chopra opined that the Delhi Capitals didn't treat KL Rahul very well and only thought about what was best for other batters in the team, giving them their preferred batting positions.

After the departure of the star wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant from Delhi Capitals (DC), star all-rounder Axar Patel was appointed as the new captain of the team.
He did a great job at the helm and led the Delhi Capitals from the front by delivering brilliant performances. Axar powered the Delhi Capitals to four back-to-back wins to start off the tournament on high, and they looked favorites to finish in the top two.
However, things changed drastically for the Delhi-based franchise as, after a good start, they suffered a massive downfall, and their performances went downhill.
Out of their next 10 matches, they only managed to win three of them and finished their campaign with 15 points in fifth spot, failing to book a spot in the playoffs.
They left the breadcrumbs for KL Rahul as he would manage - Aakash Chopra reveals Delhi Capitals' mistakes
In a video shared on his official YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra said that the Delhi Capitals' biggest blunder was their inability to find a perfect opening pair, and due to this, they also failed to use KL Rahul to the best of his potential.
"One thing that went against them was that they were unable to figure out whom they should open with. They were actually winning until Jake Fraser-McGurk was playing, but they had no option but to drop him. They had to go with seven different opening combinations. They tried every one, but it didn't work out for them," Aakash Chopra said.
"They realized right at the very end that they should think about what's right for KL Rahul because they used to think about what's right for others. They left the breadcrumbs for KL Rahul as he would manage," Aakash Chopra added.
Overall, Rahul had a good campaign in Indian Premier League 2025 as he scored 539 runs at an average of 53.90 and a strike rate of 149.72.
Aakash Chopra reveals Delhi Capitals' arrogance
The cricketer-turned-commentator Aakash Chopra further said that the Delhi Capitals became arrogant after their stunning start and didn't sign a replacement for Harry Brook until the very end of the competition, which hurt them badly.
"Some amount of arrogance also hit this team because Harry Brook wasn't coming. However, they didn't take anyone else. They didn't even think about taking anyone. Dewald Brevis was available, but they said they didn't need him. It was too late by the time they took (Sediqullah) Atal and played him," he said.
"They didn't have an idea about what needed to be done in the batting order because they had assembled all top-order batters in the auction. Everyone wanted to bat in the top three, but how many can? Ashutosh Sharma had form, but they weren't using him properly," Chopra added.
