Robbie Williams aims savage dig at Arsenal while performing at their stadium

Robbie Williams chose the worst possible place to make a joke about Arsenal’s season – the Emirates stadium.

The pop megastar was performing during his tour at the Gunners’ home turf, staging the first of two nights.

He’ll be travelling to multiple other football stadiums during the summer break, with Ajax, Eintracht Frankfurt and Espanyol all welcoming him.

However, they will be hoping they don’t get the same hilarious but brutal treatment that the Emirates and Arsenal did.

During his show, Williams asked the crowd: “How far are Arsenal away from a European trophy?”

He then delivered the savage punchline: “Four f***ing miles!”

The joke was of course referring to Europa League winners Tottenham who brought that title to north London with a final win over Manchester United.

Williams joke got a chorus of boos and cheers, while he quickly stuck an arm up to cheekily apologise.

The Europa League ended a 17-year trophy drought for Spurs, while Arsenal are arguably now on a winless streak of their own.

Excluding the Community Shield as it’s not a major honour – Arsenal haven’t won a major title in five years since their FA Cup title.

The past season also ended completely trophyless, with Mikel Arteta’s side runners-up in the Premier League for the third straight season.

Conversations naturally sparked over who had a better season, with Arsenal also heading to the Champions League semi-finals where they lost to eventual champions Paris Saint-Germain.

Football fanatic Williams’ true love is Port ValeGetty

Quite why Williams got involved in the north London banter is unknown, though, as he’s famously a Port Vale fan.

The Stoke born star was even named club president in 2024.

Speaking after taking the honour, he said: “To be able to come back home and to accept something like this is another one of those remarkable things that keep happening to me that I’m very grateful for.

“There were many, many years where I wasn’t at Port Vale. But Port Vale were always in my heart, they were, and they always will be. You know your team chooses you. You don’t choose your team but I didn’t come up for many reasons, but then I came up and met Carol [Co-Owner and Chair Carol Shanahan] and everything changed for me.

“When I met Carol the doors to the city opened up again for me. I’ve genuinely felt like I’ve come home.

“It’s an honour to be back here in the city, we are one of the country’s best and worst-kept secrets. Who we are as a people and what we represent, what our hearts stand for. We are the kindest people on the planet and I think this club is coming from a place of kindness.

“It’s unique to have a place like this that feels like it’s love and it feels like it’s home and it feels like it’s doing something incredibly important in the community and on the pitch.

“We all know how much Burslem in particular needs this club, but we also know how much this club needs Burslem too and the people of Burslem and surrounding areas.

“I am very proud to be your president. Don’t treat me any differently. That’s all. That’s all I ask!”

For Port Vale’s sake, we hope the League One side aren’t drawn against Arsenal in one of the cups next season as they could be met with some extra venom…
