Spider veins are just a fact of life for many women. Genetics play a large role, as do hormones, aging, pregnancy and other common factors that contribute to the weakening of our vein walls.
According to the American Academy of Dermatology, valves inside the veins weaken, causing blood to accumulate and eventually cause enough pressure for the vein walls to weaken and burst. These tiny burst veins are spider veins.
There used to be just a few body makeup products on the market to cover spider veins, and many of them would not last or would get on your clothes. But now, there's quite a few quality options to choose from.
Here are the best tips and products from beauty experts to conceal spider veins, just in time for summer.

1. Exfoliate and moisturize

Celebrity makeup artist Jenna Nicole, who has worked with Selena Gomez and Ashley Park, told New Beauty that she prefers a dry brush to exfoliate the legs because it also helps to stimulate circulation.
You can also use an exfoliating scrub or a loofah, and then moisturize after to prep for product.

Once your body lotion has absorbed into the skin, grab a body concealer like Estée Lauder's Camouflage Foundation for Face and Body, which also has SPF 15 sun protection. “You can apply it with your hands, a body mitt, a makeup sponge, or a makeup brush,” celebrity makeup artist Molly R. Stern told InStyle. “It all depends on what you’re going for. If it’s glowing legs, use your hands; but if you’re looking to cover up tinier imperfections or add details, opt for a brush.”

If you don't want to buy a special product, you can mix foundation and body oil, celebrity makeup artist Kindra Mann, who has worked with Renée Zellweger, said.
Next, if you want a little glimmer, you can add a body shimmer for a healthy glow. Makeup artist Pati Dubroff recommends adding shimmer "to the fronts of thighs and calves" to draw attention to that area of the leg.
Dubroff also likes a glowy bronzer, or body tint. She says you can get away with using a foundation that's slightly darker than your skin.

Do take care in applying these products away from clothing, since no makeup is totally transfer-proof. But many new products have been formulated for the body with the understanding that they will be on the skin next to clothing. So follow the steps you would take with face makeup by covering clothing during application and using a light setting powder afterwards.
