Virat Kohli in trouble? Activist files case with Bengaluru police after RCB stampede

A Bengaluru activist has filed an official complaint against RCB superstar Virat Kohli. The complaint comes after a stampede in Bengaluru on Wednesday, which claimed 11 lives. The incident followed RCB’s celebrations following their maiden IPL title win in 18 years.

Activist blames Virat Kohli, files case with Bengaluru police after stampede

As per an India Today report, a case has been filed against Virat Kohli at the Bengaluru Cubbon Park Police Station. The activist, HM Venkatesh, a resident of Karnataka’s Shivamogga district, made the complaint following the stampede near the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Wednesday.

    In response, the Cubbon Park Police have redirected the case to the existing proceedings against RCB, KSCA and DNA Network. The three entities were charged by the were booked under sections 105, 118 and 120 of the BNS. The police state any complaints against Virat Kohli will be investigated alongside the same case.

    The case was charged with criminal negligence after 47 people were injured outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. 11 people lost their lives, with most victims said to be women and children. The notices were sent to said entities evaluate the detailed information and gather the role of various agencies in the tragedy. Kohli meanwhile has said to have flown to London on Thursday and was spotted at the Mumbai airport.

    RCB employee arrested

    An RCB employee was arrested on Friday concerning the event. Karnataka Police arrested four individuals in connection with the tragedy. Among them was Nikhil Sosale, RCB’s Head of Marketing and Revenue at Diageo India, who was taken into custody at Bengaluru airport while attempting to fly to Mumbai. Sosale was a key figure in organising the event and is now under investigation for lapses in planning.

    In light of the RCB stampede, the Karnataka government announced a 10 lakh aid to the families of the 11 victims. CM Siddaramaiah confirmed that all medical expenses of the injured will be taken care of by the government. IPL champions matched that and announced their regret at the events of Wednesday.
