The Jacksonville Jaguars are signing former Arizona Cardinals pass rusher Dennis Gardeck, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz.
The terms of the deal are not yet known.
Gardeck heads to Florida after appearing in seven games (three starts) with the Cardinals last year before a torn ACL sidelined him for the year.
He registered three sacks, six tackles for loss, an interception and a forced fumble in his abbreviated 2024 showing. He was Arizona’s leading sackgetter before going down.
Across his seven years with the franchise, Gardeck recorded 156 tackles (23 for loss), 17 sacks, two interceptions, seven passes defensed and 35 QB hits in 96 games (17 starts).
With Gardeck (and BJ Ojulari) out for the year, Arizona brought in Baron Browning via midseason trade as another option alongside Zaven Collins, Xavier Thomas, Jesse Luketa, Julian Okwara and Victor Dimukeje.

The Cardinals have since upgraded the outside linebackers room with free agent addition Josh Sweat. Arizona also inked Browning to a new deal and is less than a year removed from extending Collins. Another new face in the room is rookie Jordan Burch.
Ojulari is still working his way back from a torn ACL suffered last training camp, while second-year pro Xavier Thomas presents another option for the Cardinals.
Dennis Gardeck a fan favorite for Cardinals
Gardeck had been around the Cardinals organization since signing as an undrafted free agent out of Sioux Falls in 2018.
Despite the odds against him making the roster, Gardeck appeared in 16 games as a rookie.
Seeing zero defensive snaps across his first two seasons, the pass rusher earned his spot on the roster thanks to his special teams play. Gardeck saw no less than 340 special teams snaps (85%) those first two years.
Then in 2020, Gardeck got his chance to impact the game defensively.
With Chandler Jones lost for the season with a torn bicep, Gardeck took on an increased role and ran with it.
In the 10 games Gardeck took over for Jones, he logged seven sacks, seven tackles for loss and 10 QB hits. That included five sacks in a three-week span.
The crazy part? He only logged 94 defensive snaps during that span.
Gardeck, however, suffered a torn ACL late in the year and missed the last two games.
The injury didn’t keep the pass rusher down long, with Gardeck going on to appear in 52 games (17 starts) the past four seasons.
Detroit Lions signing former Cardinals OL Trystan Colon
Another former Cardinals player was on the move Wednesday with offensive lineman Trystan Colon heading to Detroit, according to ESPN’s Mike Garafolo.
Colon made seven starts for the Cardinals last season due to injuries along the offensive line.
Across two seasons of work with Arizona, Colon appeared in 31 games (11 starts).
