DWTS Mirrorball Winner Reveals Just How Much Pros Make Per Season

A Dancing With the Stars pro has finally revealed how much professional dancers earn per season, putting long-running rumors to rest with a rare behind-the-scenes insight into this taboo topic. For years, fans have speculated just how much pros get for their appearances on the ABC reality competition series and now this information has been revealed, by a two-time mirrorball champ.

In an interview with Kelly Stafford and Hank Winchester for their “The Morning After” podcast, DWTS pro Jenna Johnson shared details of just how pros get paid and put to rest speculation of how much they make if they win the season's mirrorball trophy.

Johnson was asked by Stafford, “Do you get paid more for winning?” She replied, “No. Whoever makes it to the finale, you all get paid up until then. And you do get a nice bonus.”

Johnson added, "You’re guaranteed until a certain amount of weeks. I think there’s different contracts, so I can’t speak for everybody."

She explained, "But, if you make it all the way to the end, you’re getting paid the whole season, which is amazing. And you get a bonus on top of that for making it to the finale. If you win, it’s not like you win a million dollars and split it with your partner. You’re just getting a cute trophy together.”

Additionally, the pros’ salaries reportedly vary based on their seniority on the show and how far they make it in the competition each season. However, this is speculation as the pros remain tight-lipped about exactly how much they make for their work choreographing and performing the weekly routines alongside their celebrity partners.

Parade previously reported that newbie pros can earn around $1,600 per episode. Veteran pros with loyal fanbases can generate a pay scale higher than $5K per episode.

The caveat is that in order to continue to receive their paychecks, pros must remain in the competition alongside their celebrity partners. The more weeks they appear on the show, the more they earn. However, Dancing With the Stars has never officially confirmed these figures.

Dancing With the Stars returns for season 34 this fall on ABC and Disney+. The series streams the next day on Hulu.
