Kanye Westand Pusha T were once very close, but their friendship is no more.
Pusha T (born Terrence Thornton) first experienced success in the early 2000s alongside his brother, Malice (Gene Thornton), as the hip-hop duo Clipse. The duo worked with Pharrell Williams and The Neptunes on their debut studio album, Lord Willin'. The lead single, "Grindin'," became a summer Top 40 hit, peaking at No. 30 on the Billboard Hot 100. Clipse maintained a strong presence in hip-hop until the brothers began working on solo projects in the 2010s.
That's when Pusha T worked with Kanye. Pusha signed to West's GOOD Music label and even once served as its president. But Pusha severed ties with both West and GOOD Music following West's wave of anti-Semitic remarks in 2022.
However, in a new cover story for GQ, Pusha reveals that their friendship had already been deteriorating before then. And they won't bury the hatchet anytime soon.

"[He has] every soul believing that I've done such a great injustice to [him]," says Pusha. "And that's a lie. He goes on his rants. The one thing that I can say about him is that he knows that every issue that he's having and crying about online right now, I've told him distinctly about those things, distinctly."
"He's a genius," says Pusha. "And his intuition is even more genius level, right? But that's why me and him don't get along, because he sees through my fakeness with him. He knows I don't think he's a man. He knows it. And that's why we can't build with each other no more."
Pusha also discussed how much of West's erratic behavior could be attributed to his mental health.
"He's sick, I do believe that much," says Pusha. "You're sick, but you're also very calculated. And if I take your sickness and take how calculated you've been and disruptive you've been and tried to be to me, then it cancels itself out. I can't look at it as sick, because you're detrimental. You're detrimental to everything."
Clipse will release Let God Sort 'Em Out, their first album in 15 years, on July 11, 2025.
