UFC veteran opens up on brutal cut from roster following Dana White comments: ‘It was dirty’

Jairzinho Rozenstruik has revealed that he found out about his ruthless departure from the UFC online, before his bosses informed him.

Rozenstruik was brutally cut from the UFC just days after his last fight in the promotion, which was a defeat to Sergei Pavlovich at the start of February.

The MMA veteran lost to Pavlovich by unanimous decision after three rounds at UFC Saudi Arabia.

UFC CEO Dana White didn’t hold back with his post-fight assessment of the scrap, calling the fight ‘horrible,’ and the only fight booed all night.

Then, once Rozenstruik had returned home, White seemingly felt like he had no choice and told the heavyweight from Suriname that he had been released from the promotion.

‘Bigi Boy’ joined The Ariel Helwani show on Monday to discuss his UFC departure ahead of his combat sports return under the Dirty Boxing Championship banner on June 14.

“No I did not,” Rozenstruik said when asked if he left the UFC with any regrets.

“I had a good run with the UFC and they weren’t bad to me. The way they cut me was dirty, but, as I say, if there is no need for each other to work together anymore, then we have to move on.

“But I can’t say anything bad of the UFC.”

Rozenstruik then expanded on his classification of his UFC cut as ‘dirty.’

“For example, I flew down from Saudi Arabia, which is a long trip,” the 37-year-old explained.

“I came home tired, I went to bed, there was a big time difference so I was sleeping during the day, and I got several phone calls.

Loss – Sergei Pavlovich via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night in February 2025 Win – Tai Tuivasa via split decision at UFC 305 in August 2024 Win – Shamil Gaziev via fourth-round KO at UFC Fight Night in March 2024 Loss – Jailton Almeida via first-round submission at UFC Fight Night in May 2023 Win – Chris Daukaus via first-round KO at UFC 282 in December 2022

“So [my cut] was on the internet before I knew of it, put it that way.”

Rozenstruik added that he would’ve preferred a phone call from his bosses, as it would’ve meant he left the UFC ‘with more respect’ than he has now.

He was on a two-fight win streak heading into his bout with Pavlovich at UFC Saudi Arabia, so his axing left several fans baffled at the time.

“For me it was surprising and I really don’t know what the reason was, or what the reason is,” Rozenstruik said.

“So I just move on from what I left there in the UFC, it was a great time and run, and I’m just moving forward.”

Rozenstruik was then questioned if it may have been his fight style that lead to his release.

However, seven of his eight victories in the promotion came by way of submission or knock out, so that admission seems out of question.

“I’m a fighter, not a computer,” Rozenstruik concluded.

“You don’t put a system and then you expect to do what you like.

“It’s a fight – every fight is different. You have to react to what the opponent is doing. I’m looking for my opportunities.

“I will not run in there and get robbed by something that I didn’t see coming.

“I have my own way of fighting, so you have to give me the task to make it happen – that’s how I see it.”

Rozenstruik is now competing for Dirty Boxing, which is co-owned by UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones and Mike Perry.

The unique combat sports league returns in Miami on June 14 and is headlined by a heavyweight brawl between Rozenstruik and American Devon Schwan.

Rozenstruik will no doubt have success in his new venture, considering his remarkable UFC resume.

He went on a four-fight win streak at the beginning of his career, knocking out MMA great Alistair Overeem in December 2019.

The Surinamese slugger then mixed it up with the likes of top UFC heavyweights Francis Ngannou and Ciryl Gane.

Although he lost to both men, Rozenstruik built up a reputation as one of the world’s best heavyweights with first-round KOs over names like Augusto Sakai and Chris Daukaus.
