June 3, 2025 will go down in Indian Premier League (IPL) history. A new champion will be crowned. One of Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will be the 8th team to lift the IPL trophy. The team that rises through the ranks, performs under pressure, and holds its nerve will emerge victorious.
One can’t forget that PBKS have lost two of the three matches they have played against RCB in IPL 2025, including Qualifier 1. Beating a team who battered them just a couple of days ago won’t be easy. PBKS need to be at their best. Exploit weak points. Be ready for matchups. Here’s what PBLS might need to lift the IPL 2025 trophy.
Shreyas Iyer vs Josh Hazlewood
PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer has been their best batter. One can make the argument that he singlehandedly won them Qualifier 2 with his unbeaten 87-run knock. Shreyas can play the role of an anchor and aggressor at the same time. He’s easily the best batter going into the IPL 2025 Final.
But RCB has a way to tackle him and that’s Josh Hazlewood. The fast bowler has dismissed him in all three matches they have played against each other. Shreyas even got the better of Jasprit Bumrah but he just can’t get away against Hazlewood.

Virat Kohli has been at the helm for RCB since the beginning. He’s dug them out of trouble and kept them in matches. He’s reached three IPL finals and played multiple ICC knockout matches as well. Kohli’s the man you want in the middle during the pressure moments.
He’s got a fine record in Ahmedabad and against PBKS in the IPL. If RCB bats second, the chase master is who you want. Kohli will be at his energetic best. You’ll see fist pumps, high fives, celebrations, and lots of screaming in delight.
Arshdeep Singh’s dry spell
Arshdeep Singh is PBKS’ best bowler in IPL 2025. But in the last 5 matches, he’s got just 2 wickets. Arshdeep hasn’t been taking wickets in the powerplay. In the absence of Marco Jansen, you’d want him to step up but it’s the opposite. Arshdeep has a very good record against Phil Salt (2 wickets, 12.50 average, and 113.63 strike rate) and PBKS would like him to improve it.
He is one of the best death bowlers and can nullify the Tim David, Romario Shepherd, and Jitesh Sharma threat. Of course, we don’t yet know whether David will play but Arshdeep can keep them silent.
Yuzvendra Chahal’s form
Yuzvendra Chahal may have 15 wickets to his name, but he’s been one of the worst wrist spinners in IPL 2025. Apart from the fact that he’s been dealing with injuries, Chahal hasn’t been threatening. Shreyas hasn’t shown much trust in him and he hasn’t even completed his quota a few times. One can even say that Harpreet Brar has bowled better than him.
Despite bowling in middle overs, his economy is 9.58. One of the reasons why his average and strike rates don’t look that bad is because of a hat-trick which consisted of the wickets of Anshul Kamboj and Noor Ahmad. He matches well with most RCB batters but hasn’t been bowling well at all.
One thing that can go in Chahal’s favour might be Rajat Patidar’s form and issues with a finger injury. The RCB captain is his team’s best spin hitter. And if he won’t be able to take Chahal down, the leggie might just find a way to trap RCB batters in his spin web.
