Former Indian cricketer Yograj Singh believes that the Punjab Kings can lift their maiden IPL title if they can manage to get rid of Virat Kohli early in the match. Punjab will take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL 2025 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on June 3.
Virat Kohli’s wicket would dictate the title’s fate, according to Yograj Singh, but his senses are supporting Punjab to end the IPL trophy drought.

Yorgaj Singh thinks that if Punjab didn’t get rid of Virat Kohli early, then they would be in trouble, as Kohli has the ability to chase a 250 or 300 run score.
Yograj Singh also added that his senses are saying Punjab have an edge over Bengaluru to lift their maiden IPL title. Kohli has been a key for RCB in the knock-out games, especially when his team is chasing the score.
"If Punjab doesn't get Virat out, then they are in trouble. If he doesn't get out, then he can chase 250 or 300. I believe Punjab can win. The game is done if Virat doesn't get out in the first 10 overs. My senses say Punjab will win," Yograj Singh stated on ANI.
Yograj Singh compares Shreyas Iyer to Virat Kohli
Yograj praised the Punjab skipper, Shreyas Iyer, for how he took away the game from Mumbai Indians, same like Kohli did in chasing. Iyer’s epic innings of an unbeaten 87 runs in the Qualifier 2 helped his side reach in IPL final after 11 years.
"Punjab has a wonderful captain. He is an amazing player. The game will be between Punjab's captain and Virat Kohli. If RCB has Virat, Punjab has Shreyas Iyer. Punjab should win. If Virat can win RCB a game from any position, Shreyas can do it as well," he added.
Iyer’s brute force has been his strength in this IPL season, and his addition to the squad added firepower to Punjab’s batting lineup. PBKS skipper smashed 39 sixes in this season and is just one six away from smashing the most sixes in this IPL season.
This will be Iyer’s third IPL final in his career, and he has been unbeaten on both occasions. His first IPL final was with Delhi Capitals in 2020, where he scored an unbeaten 65 runs, but his side lost the game. In the second instance, his side was on the victorious side as he scored six runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2024.
Virat Kohli’s sublime form in IPL 2025
Virat Kohli bagged another feat in this IPL season as he became the first player to score 600+ runs in an IPL season for a record five times. Kohli scored 614 runs at a blistering average of 55.82 with striking the ball at 146.53 rate.
Kohli scored a brilliant half-century in his last IPL final but couldn’t chase the target. This will be his fourth IPL final, and he will be looking to help his franchise lift their maiden IPL title.
