‘Here we go’ – Dallas Cowboys announce major Dak Prescott change for quarterback in new NFL season

THE Dallas Cowboys will make a big change to their offense in their rebuild season this year.

Dallas has a new head coach in Brian Schottenheimer after missing out on the playoffs in 2024.

And the new Cowboys leader has made it clear he is implementing a big change.

The move from Schottenheimer will make quarterback Dak Prescott’s job very different.

Prescott adopted the cadence “yeah, here we go” before snaps.

The four words even inspired local hockey team the Dallas Stars to use phrase before power plays.

But Schottenheimer wants to mix up the cadence with different words before every play.

The cadence could’ve been a factor in Dallas’ poor season last year.

After a 12-5 season in 2023, the Cowboys fell off to finish 7-10 in 2024.

They were 3-5 with Prescott as a starter before he suffered a season-ending hamstring injury.

And defenses could’ve started to pick up on the Cowboys’ timing to gain an advantage.

But while a change will negate a defense’s potential advantage, it could lead to teething problems for Prescott.

Quarterbacks and offensive lines are used to a certain timing and rhythm with their plays.

Using a different cadence or snap count could lead to timing issues, potentially more false start penalties.

Coach Schottenheimer announced the change but was tight-lipped how it would look on the field.

“I’m not going to tell you about the cadence,” Schottenheimer said,

“But the biggest thing is getting all the quarterbacks to sound the same.”

Prescott, 31, is working his way back from injury which ruined his 2024 season.

He is headed into his 10th season in the NFL and is now the Cowboys’ longest-serving player.

But coach Schottenheimer made a “crazy” claim about the quarterback.

“I think Dak is in the developmental phase,” Schottenheimer said.

“And that sounds crazy for a guy who’s played that much, but there are things we’re tweaking with Dak.”
