Trump characterized Musk's efforts as a "colossal change" in the traditional methods of governance in Washington, highlighting the transformative impact of Musk's leadership approach . Although Musk's time at Doge lasted only 129 days, he implemented significant cuts to federal contracts and agencies, albeit falling short of his ambitious goals regarding federal spending reductions.

After four turbulent months leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), Elon Musk concluded his government service, prompting a celebratory press event hosted by President Trump. Musk's departure occurs during a sensitive period for DOGE and his relationship with the president. Several key DOGE staffers, including Steve Davis (President of the Boring Company), spokeswoman Katie Miller, and attorney James Burnham, have recently resigned or are planning to leave. Musk served as a high-profile "special government employee" for Trump on a temporary basis, following his contribution of over $250 million to the president's election campaign.Trump, visibly gleeful, took to the podium, a "Make America Great Again" hat perched jauntily on his head.
