Ex-India coach to hold 14-day training camp for Sri Lanka pacers

Former India cricket team bowling coach Bharat Arun will hold a 14-day training camp to help Sri Lanka fast bowlers. His stint comes after ex-India fielding coach R Sridhar had done something similar in April by organizing a fielding camp. Arun was India’s fast bowling coach between 2014-2021.

Arun to head training camp for Sri Lanka bowlers

A statement issued by Sri Lanka cricket stated that the 14-day camp was aimed at enhancing the standards of the bowlers of both senior and junior Sri Lankan squads. The training camp is scheduled to commence from June 2 onwards.

“[Arun] will work with the Sri Lanka national men’s and women’s teams, the women’s ‘A’ team, the U19 men’s team, coaches of the high performance centre, club and provincial coaches, and coach-educators during his stay here in the country,” the statement said.

Further, the ex-India bowling coach will hold separate strategy sessions for the red and white-ball teams.

“He will conduct separate strategy sessions with the men’s red-ball and white-ball teams, hold technical and skill-based training with fast bowlers, hold video and performance analysis sessions with players and coaches, and also match scenarios to develop ‘game’ understanding,” the statement added.

Sri Lanka cricket is on a break right now, with no international fixtures planned for the next two weeks. The senior men’s team will take on Bangladesh in a two-match Test series that is scheduled to commence on June 17. Following that, they will take on the Tigers in a three-match ODI and T20I series that will run from July 6 to 16.
