Liverpool have confirmed the signing of Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen.
Frimpong moves to Anfield after the Reds triggered his £29.5million release clause.
The 2023/24 Bundesliga champion has signed a five-year contract and becomes Arne Slot‘s first signing of the summer.
Slot has moved quickly to find a replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold, who will leave the club this summer.
Alexander-Arnold, who was set to depart on a free transfer, will join Real Madrid in a £10m fee in order to play at the Club World Cup.
Dutch defender Frimpong has been one of the best players at Leverkusen in the Xabi Alonso era.
He has racked up 38 goal involvements (19 goals, 19 assists) over the last two seasons.
The 24-year-old is likely to take the number 30 shirt at Liverpool, the same number he wore at Leverkusen.
The last person to wear was former academy graduate Suso a decade ago.
It will likely be busy summer for Liverpool following their Premier League title success.
They also want to bring in Frimpong’s Leverkusen teammate Florian Wirtz, with a deal likely to cost in excess of £100m.
