In the second set, Marozsan broke Alcaraz in an early twist.

During the set Marozsan smashed a ball down, sending it high and Alcaraz was forced to leap up at the back of the court to return.

The Spaniard then come crashing down on top of a line judge positioned at the back of the court.

The 20 year-old quickly checked to see if the official was okay, bringing smiles all round on Court Philippe Chatrier.

Line judges are a becoming a rarity in tennis.

Electronic line calling is seen as the future of the sport, with the French Open the last major tournament left to adopt the technology.

The Australian Open brought in the technology in 2021, and the US Open followed in 2022.

This summer, Wimbledon will also adopt the electronic line calling.

However, Roland Garros has pushed back.

Gilles Moretton, the president of the FFT, says the French Open will maintain human line judges for as long as possible.

“I think we are right to keep our referees and line judges at Roland Garros,” said Morreton.

“For Roland Garros, we want to keep our linesmen as long as the players agree with that.”

After losing the second set, Alcaraz quickly took back control in Paris to win in four sets.

Speaking on court after the win, Alcaraz said: “It was a great match. I started playing well. In the first set, I had really high confidence.

“In the second set, he started to play much better and he was really aggressive.

“He didn’t miss at all so it was a little difficult to deal with his game in the second set, but I’m really happy I stayed strong and refreshed myself.

“In the third set, I started to play better and better which helped me have a really good last two sets.”

The Spaniard’s title defence continues with his ninth win in a row at Roland Garros.

The four-time Grand Slam Champion will face either French Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard or Bosnia-Herzegovina’s Damir Dzumhur.

In the build up to defending his French Open title Alcaraz won titles in Monte Carlo and Rome.

The 22-year-old is aiming to become the first man since Rafael Nadal in 2020 to retain the Roland Garros title.
