The North Carolina Department of Transportation will close Suttles Road in Pittsboro to thru-traffic beginning Tuesday, June 3. The closure will allow for the final stages of the road’s realignment and connection to the new Chatham Parkway, which will service the Chatham Park development.
According to the NCDOT and the Town of Pittsboro, the closure is expected to remain in effect through November, though weather conditions could allow for a faster reopening of the road.
Motorists who use Suttles Road are encouraged to plan alternate routes and follow posted detour signs while the road is closed. Barricades will be set up at the road’s intersection with Chatham Parkway, and signage will be posted at the western side of the closure near the intersection with Grant Drive. The Town of Pittsboro is coordinating with NCDOT to minimize disruptions to emergency services and Chatham County Schools.
Suttles Road currently stretches from Russet Run at its western end – near Northwood High School – to the Chatham Parkway Overpass at its eastern end, near Chatham Park. Most of the road runs parallel to U.S. Highway 64, north of downtown Pittsboro.
