A POPULAR online food delivery service has waved in customers at its first ever physical store.
FreshDirect opened up its maiden brick-and-mortar location in Southampton, New York on May 23.
However, the store will not be a long-term operation.
The pop-up location will only welcome in customers until the end of 2025.
Since 2002, FreshDirect has delivered local goods, chef-prepared meals, and big-name brands to customers in the New York City metropolitan area, Long Island, and Westchester.
FreshDirect also serves select areas of Connecticut, Delaware, Pennsylvania, and Washington DC.
Customers also have the opportunity to shop for hundreds of frozen items, as well as baby essentials, beauty buys, alcoholic beverages, and pet care.

Reviewing the online grocery company, one shopper said: ”I hate grocery shopping, but I love eating.

Meanwhile, a second customer wrote: ”By far, the very best grocery delivery service in the NY metropolitan area. I have been a loyal customer since 2003.
”They stand by their service and the quality of their food. Their website is easy to navigate and reordering is a snap. I don’t know what I would do without them.”
And a third said: ”Pricing is very good. Always delivered on time (we choose the 5am-8am delivery).
”The produce is picture-perfect fresh. Frozen foods are very frozen. Lovely bags [that] we aren’t additionally charged for.

ROBO-WHEELS
It comes after an Uber Eats customer was left open-mouthed when they received a text asking if they would like a robot to deliver their food.
Last year, the company recently announced that autonomous vehicles will now be hitting the road to deliver orders, although customers can opt-out if they wish.
And one startled customer did just that when they were sent the automatic message option.
“Not ready for this JUST yet,” the user wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
“I prefer human.
“Last time I accepted robot delivery it was like 14 mins longer.
“Time is money.”

Shoppers can save time by getting someone else to get their groceries for them using a variety of apps and services.
Instacart: Works with major retailers including Albertsons, ALDI, Costco, CVS, Kroger, Sam’s Club, and Wegmans. Groceries can be delivered as quickly as one hour and can be arranged to suit your schedule. However, prices can differ compared to those that are in-store. There is a $99 per year or $9.99 per month membership fee.
Amazon Fresh: This is an off-shoot of Amazon. It offers customers fresh groceries and household goods. The service works similarly to Instacart and offers same-day delivery and exclusive offers to those with Amazon Prime.
Walmart Grocery: Walmart shoppers can place orders via the Walmart app and either pick them up or have them delivered to their door. The retailer calls it “the easiest way to shop.”
Shipt: Membership costs $99 per year with unlimited free deliveries on orders over $35. It enables customers to speak directly with their assigned Shipt shoppers to make special requests. The company also works closely with Target.
Kroger Delivery: Kroger shoppers can get their groceries taken to their door at a delivery time that suits them. It also offers customers the chance to spend digital coupons so they do not miss out on key deals. However, the retailer’s service does not offer same-day delivery.
Target Same-Day Delivery: Orders can arrive within a few hours of being placed. Shoppers can get real-time updates on their orders which will allow for last-minute changes and special requests. Target states that there are “no delivery markups” and Target Circle deals are included. Shoppers can pay per delivery or become a Target Circle 360 member for unlimited deliveries.
