JERSEY Shore’s Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino still owes $2.3 million in unpaid taxes and has been hit with a new lien six years after his prison stint for tax evasion.
The U.S. Sun exclusively confirmed Mike, 42, has a total of two tax liens filed against him in 2022, which are both open and unpaid, according to a clerk in each jurisdiction in which they were filed.
A clerk confirmed to The U.S. Sun in one unseen lien that the Jersey Shore star “owes $9,324,” and that the IRS debt, which was filed in November of 2022, “is open and unpaid.”
Meanwhile, in a massive lien that was filed in a different county, and previously revealed by The U.S. Sun, a clerk confirmed Mike still owes an eye-watering $2,295,745.26 in his April 2022 bill there.
“There is no release on that lien, it is still open,” the clerk said.
Meanwhile, yet another clerk in a third county confirmed that the reality star has made some headway in a previously filed 2018 tax lien.
“There is a release for his 2018 lien. He paid $119,825.26 in 2024,” the clerk said.
When a lien is fully paid, it is said to be “released” by the IRS.
In a statement to The U.S. Sun, Mike’s tax attorney Kristen Saltillo said the star is engaged in a payment agreement with the IRS over his outstanding debts.
“Michael Sorrentino entered into a repayment plan with the IRS more than 2 years ago, and he has been making regular payments, consistent with that agreement, on a monthly basis.
“Mr. Sorrentino entered into an agreement to pay all of his outstanding tax liabilities, which are now less than $2 million,” she added.
The MTV star’s tax troubles began in 2014 when he faced federal tax fraud charges.
The Jersey Shore star was sentenced to eight months in federal prison in 2018.
He began his sentence in January 2019 and was released in September of the same year.
Since then, the 39-year-old has largely stayed on the straight and narrow.
SATISFYING COURT ORDERS
As previously reported by The U.S. Sun, Mike paid off $337,693 in restitution for his tax evasion case on January 13, 2020.
His probation officially ended in 2021.
‘FREE MAN’
The father of three celebrated the milestone on Twitter in September 2021, writing, “Probation officer just left!!
“Community service completed. I’m a free man.
“Probation is over!! The Comeback is always greater than the Setback.”
MIKE MOVES FORWARD
