RCB beg LSG for last-minute playing XI change after shocking Rajat Patidar blunder in team sheet

The ongoing game between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Lucknow Super Giants began in a dramatic fashion as the former found themselves in a team selection mix-up.

For the second game in a row, Jitesh Sharma and not regular Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain Rajat Patidar came out for the toss. The wicketkeeper-batsman won the toss and opted to bowl first. Speaking at toss, Jitesh confirmed that Rajat Patidar would be used as an Impact Player once again.

The right-handed batsman is currently recovering from a finger injury that he sustained while fielding during the game against Chennai Super Kings earlier this month.

With Royal Challengers Bengaluru bowling first, their regular captain was initially supposed to sit out. However, his name mistakenly appeared in the starting playing XI submitted at the toss, and it led to last-minute confusion. Teams are usually not allowed to make any changes to their playing eleven after the toss.

The mistake forced Royal Challengers Bengaluru to request a last-minute change. The move needed LSG's consent, and the hosts obliged. As a result, Suyash Sharma was included in Rajat Patidar's place in the RCB playing eleven.

Official team sheet has Rajat Patidar listed, but Jitesh Sharma says he is playing as an impact sub. The playing XI posted by RCB has Suyash Sharma in place of Patidar. Confusion confusion#LSGvRCB pic.twitter.com/rRgmYV9J3m

RCB bowling first in must-win clash:

Royal Challengers Bengaluru are bowling first in the last league game of the season. The Bengaluru-based outfit has already qualified for the playoffs, but the ongoing game is of huge importance for it. A win against LSG will give the three-time IPL finalists a spot in the top two.

They are currently in the third spot in the points table and can move up with a win over LSG. Their fate is in their own hands, and they will be desperate to win the ongoing game. If Royal Challengers Bengaluru win against LSG, they will be facing Punjab Kings in the first qualifier. On the other hand, a loss will see them locking horns against the Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator.

Unlike Royal Challengers Bengaluru, LSG are out of the tournament and will be looking to end their campaign on a winning note. They registered an impressive win over the Gujarat Titans in their last game and will be confident of beating RCB too.
