A good musician knows it's all about the fans, and Dave Matthews had a sweet message for one fan's mother who couldn't attend his performance this past weekend.
Matthews, whose performance with the rest of the Dave Matthews Band closed out the Boston Calling Music Festival at the Harvard Athletic Complex in Boston this weekend, caught up with a fan backstage at the festival, which brought in an estimated 100,000 music fans throughout the weekend.
Emerson Lotzia, Jr., who has seen the band with his mom almost every year since he was 13, took to Twitter to share a sweet video of himself and Matthews.
"Hey, Mom! I got the one and only Dave Matthews here right now," Lotzia, Jr. told the camera.
"All the best and all the strength you need, whenever you need it," Matthews, who is dressed in a multi-colored scarf and blue jacket, told the camera.
"We love you, Mom!" Lotzia, Jr. concluded the video.
In the video's caption, Lotzia Jr. added that he and his mom have been to more than 50 Dave Matthews Band shows all over the country.
"But since she’s been sick the past five years and mostly bedridden, she hasn’t been able to make one of his concerts. I also haven’t been to one without her … until last night. After Dave wrapped up at Boston Calling, I ran into him backstage and asked if he could send her some well wishes. He kindly said yes," Lotzia Jr. wrote.

"Not gonna lie, I teared up after this because I knew how much it would mean to mom. I really miss going to concerts with her. I pray one day she’ll feel better and we can continue our road-tripping tradition. Dave, you’re a good man for this. Thank you," he concluded.
