(KRON) – Authorities are searching for a driver who may have crashed into a tree early Sunday morning, according to the city of Mountain View.
The collision occurred around 5:20 a.m. near East Evelyn Avenue and Kittyhawk Way. The Mountain View Police Department officers responded to the scene and found the owner of the vehicle outside the car and the passenger inside the vehicle.
The passenger informed police that their foot was pinned in the front passenger seat area. Mountain View Fire Department crews extricated the passenger, who was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

They said that a "new acquaintance" who was wearing all black was rammed into a tree and then fled on foot. Per the city, the owner did not give any further information about the driver.
Police conducted an area search of the suspected driver but did not find anyone, according to the city.
