Vanderbilt has won the SEC Baseball Tournament for the second time in the past 3 seasons. The No. 4 seed Commodores edged 7-seed Ole Miss 3-2 to claim the tournament title in Hoover and extend their winning streak to 8 games entering the NCAA Tournament.
The Vandy Boys did not wait long to break the scoring ice. Brodie Johnston hit a 2-run home run in the bottom of the 1st inning to put Vanderbilt up 2-0.

Ole Miss bats were contained most of the day, but it turned out that Jacob Humphrey would deliver the deciding run on a solo homer down the right-field line in the bottom of the 5th inning.

Austin Nye set the tone, going 4.2 innings, allowing 1 earned run on 2 hits over 76 pitches, striking out 5 to just 2 walks. Luke Guth was the winning pitcher, going 1.2 scoreless innings without allowing a hit. Sawyer Hawks recorded a 6-out save over 2 innings.
Ole Miss trailed 3-1 entering its final at-bat, with the run coming off Mitchell Sanford’s RBI single in the 5th inning. In the top of the 9th, the Rebels made things interesting.
Isaac Humphrey hit a solo home run to cut it to 3-2. With 2 outs, Ole Miss had Austin Fawley as the tying run in scoring position at 2nd base and Federico as the potential go-ahead run at 1st base after a walk, a balk and a second walk. The Rebels, though, were unable to bring the runners home.
Vanderbilt is now 42-16 overall with the No. 1 RPI in the country going into the NCAA Tournament. Ole Miss is also likely to host an NCAA Regional, improving to 40-19 overall with the No. 11 RPI after a strong showing in Hoover.
