Prabhsimran Singh, on Saturday (May 24), threw away a good start by playing a poor shot during the ongoing game between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
Asked to bat first, Punjab Kings were off to a shaky start as their highly-rated opener Priyansh Arya departed in the second over for just 6 runs. Prabhsimran Singh and Josh Inglis then steadied the ship and took the score past the 50-run mark.
However, Punjab Kings lost another wicket inside the powerplay with Vipraj Nigam dismissing Inglis. The Australian star departed after scoring 32 runs off just 12 balls with the help of 3 fours and 2 sixes.

With the team losing two wickets inside the powerplay, the onus was on well-set Prabhsimran Singh and captain Shreyas Iyer to build the innings. However, just when it looked like the two were well set and would stitch together a big stand, Prabhsimran's stay at the crease came to an end after he went for an audacious shot.
On the fourth ball of the 8th over bowled by Nigam, Prabhsimran hit the Delhi Capitals spinner for a four. On the following delivery, he tried to play a cheeky shot for another boundary and paid a big price.
The right-handed batsman went across to play the scoop shot against a full delivery that was bowled on the off stump. Prabhsimran failed to read the line of the ball completely as the ball evaded his bat and went on to hit the off stump. He departed for 28 runs off 18 balls.

Talking about the game, Punjab Kings were on 93/3 in the 10th over at the time of writing this report. Iyer and Nehal Wadhera were batting in the middle for the Punjab-based outfit.
Punjab Kings have already booked their spot in the playoffs, but would be desperate to win the ongoing game to bolster their chances of finishing in the top two. They are currently at the second spot in the points table with 17 points from 12 games and a win over Delhi Capitals would take them to the top of the table.
