Watch: Eshan Malinga Takes Superb Catch Off His Own Bowling To Dismiss Romario Shepherd For A Duck

Eshan Malinga, on Friday (May 23), turned the game between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Sunrisers Hyderabad on its head by producing two dismissals inside an over.

Chasing 232 runs, RCB were in the driver's seat at the end of the 15th over. The scorecard read 167/3 with captain Rajat Patidar and Jitesh Sharma at the crease. Both the batsmen had got the start and were looking in good touch.

With the team in a precarious situation, SRH captain Pat Cummins decided to reintroduce Eshan Malinga into the attack. In his first two overs, the pacer had conceded 27 runs without taking a wicket. However, he justified his captain's call by picking up two wickets in the over.

The over did not start on a good note for Eshan Malinga as the first ball went for a four after hitting Patidar's pad. It was followed by two singles before Malinga ran out Patidar with a stunning effort. On the fourth ball of the over, Malinga bowled a brilliant yorker before running out Patidar when the RCB captain and Jitesh tried to take a quick single.

And on the final ball of the over, he grabbed a brilliant catch off his own bowling to send back the dangerous Romario Shepherd for a golden duck.

It was a slower ball from Malinga, and Shepherd was a bit early through the drive. As a result, the West Indian failed to keep the ball down while hitting it to the left of Malinga. At first, it looked like the ball would go past Malinga. However, the Sri Lankan pacer took a superb catch in his follow-through by stretching to his left side with both hands.

Talking about the game, RCB were on 187/9 in the 19th over at the time of writing this report. Patidar's run-out triggered a collapse as RCB lost 6 wickets for just 14 runs to find themselves reeling at 187/9 from 173/3. Earlier in the game, Ishan Kishan's unbeaten knock of 95 runs helped SRH post a huge total of 231/6.
