Sheinelle Jones is speaking out following the death of her husband, Uche Ojeh.
As Parade previously reported, during the 8 a.m. hour of the Today, longtime cp-host Savannah Guthrie announced that Jones' husband of 17 years died following a battle with brain cancer. Ojeh was only 45.
"With profound sadness, we share this morning that Uche Ojeh, the husband of our dearest friend and Today co-host, Sheinelle Jones, has passed away after a courageous battle with an aggressive form of brain cancer called glioblastoma," Guthrie shared on Friday.
Shortly after the devastating news was shared, Jones took to her personal Instagram page with a clip of the segment and a brief caption–her first public statement since announcing her family's tragic loss.

Alongside the video posted to the social media platform on May 23, she wrote: "Thank you, for all of your love and support. ❤️."

In the clip from the broadcast, Today paid tribute to Ojeh with a detailed account of his and Jones' love story. The couple met at Northwestern University and dated for eight years before they married in 2007. They later welcomed three children: son Kayin, 15, and 12-year-old twins, son Uche and daughter Clara.

Guthrie called him Jones' "perfect match—a man whose joyful spirit and quiet strength complemented Sheinelle in every way."
"Uche was the kind of person who brought light, warmth and joy to every room," Guthrie added, "Today, with heavy hearts, we celebrate his life—devoted husband, loving father and a man whose generosity and spirit touched all who knew him."
