Josh Taylor is finally set to step back in the ring after a year out since losing to Jack Catterall, and his return fight will be live on talkSPORT.
The Scotsman finally faced his bitter rival in a rematch in May 2024, two years after their first encounter that ended in a controversial win for Taylor.
But there was no controversy in their rematch as El Gato claimed the win via unanimous decision.
However, after taking some time away from the sport to refocus, he’s back and will be supported by a home crowd this weekend.
However, his opponent is a tough competitor with Ekow Essuman having just one defeat on his professional record.
The undercard also features Moses Itauma‘s latest fight, with the 20-year-old continuing his climb up the heavyweight rankings.
The Brit is 20-0 and faces Mike Balogun next.
Taylor vs Essuman: Date and how to follow
This 12-round welterweight contest is set to take place on Saturday, May 24.
It is set to be held at the SSE Hydro Arena in Glasgow.
The main card is scheduled to start at 7pm UK time, with the main event ringwalks set for 10pm.
talkSPORT’s live coverage of the night will start at 8pm, with Adam Catterall and Gareth A Davies serving as your hosts.
Commentary will come from John Rawling and Spencer Oliver.

Taylor is very keen to get back into the ring and to start competing again.
He said: “I’m still very much into boxing, and I’ve been smart with the money that I’ve earned, so I’m not doing it for money.
“I’m doing it for the love and the pride of the sport, and my passion and my legacy of becoming a two-weight world champion and going down in the history books as one of Scotland’s greatest fighters.
“If I didn’t have that goal, I wouldn’t be in boxing now. I don’t have to be spending months and months away from home, away from my wife, away from my family, down in Liverpool. I don’t have to do it, but I’m doing it because I want to and I’ve still got that desire.”
But he isn’t thinking beyond this fight.
He added: “I made that mistake in the lead-up to the [first] Jack Catterall fight, looking at what was going to be after it. And I almost paid the price for it. So I’m not making that mistake again. I know there won’t be a shortage of options moving up and moving forward at welterweight.
“I’m only 34. I didn’t turn pro until I was 25, you know? So it’s not like I’ve been pro since I was 16 or 17 and been in loads and loads of wars. I’m still fresh.”
