Arizona State football’s 2026 recruiting class got a little bigger on Wednesday with the addition of three-star linebacker Mason Marden.
Marden represents the second linebacker commit in the class for the Sun Devils and the first player from Missouri.
He chose Arizona State out of a final five grouping of schools that also included Oklahoma, Kansas, Michigan State and Wisconsin.
He’s rated by 247 Sports as the No. 85 linebacker in the class, which puts him 36 spots ahead of his fellow Sun Devil commit, Oscar Aguilar, at the position.
What did Mason Marden say after committing to Arizona State football?
The impression he had gotten of head coach Kenny Dillingham made it a perfect match, he told Rivals.

“I just love his personality. He’s a younger coach compared to the other ones,” Marden said. “He treats you like family. He’s nice off the field, but like when you need to go on the field, he’s gonna be hard on you. So I just like that feeling with the best of both worlds there. … You feel like you’re comfortable, and you fit in there.”
ASU linebackers coach A.J. Cooper made the trip to Marden’s announcement in Missouri, which confirmed the family feel he had gotten from the Sun Devil staff.
As his recruiting picked up after a junior year that included 170 tackles and 20 for a loss at St. Louis Ladue Horton Watkins High, his approach with potential suitors focused on the defensive scheme, business programs and physical recovery capabilities.
“The best player is a healthy player,” he added of why the last part is crucial.
He’ll slot in at the middle linebacker spot with the top of the depth chart in Keyshaun Elliott, Jordan Crook and Zyrus Fiaseu all entering likely final years.
